Welcome to the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for November 1- 15, 2009! We would like to invite you on Friday, 13th November at 14:00 hrs to join the second INGO Forum for 2009. The meeting will take place in the NGO RC conference room, La Thanh Hotel, 218 Doi Can. The agenda will include a brief update of our recent activities; discussion about the upcoming CG meeting; update on new decrees; our latest salary survey report; and the discussion regarding a survey evaluating the last five years of cooperation between PACCOM and INGOs. Farewell Paul and Welcome Louisa!

This month was the last month for Mr. Paul Griffiths as the Information Technology (IT) Advisor at the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre (NGO RC). Paul was recruited through Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and has spent almost two years helping the NGO RC to transition its electronic operations into a whole new era. He has been instrumental in restructuring our IT infrastructure; expanding our resources; improving security; fixing problems; and proposing new ideas. Paul has been a true team player; hard working; innovative; and always supportive of his colleagues. We wish him a safe journey back to the United Kingdom and we miss him already!

Following recent devastations caused by the typhoon Ketsana, which swept through several central provinces of Vietnam, the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) and VUFO-NGO Resource Centre are seeking your support in providing assistance to the regions affected by the typhoon. A delayed welcome to the NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for September 1 - 15, 2009!

With a holiday season still not over, there has been a slight delay in releasing this edition of the newsletter. There are three Working Group meetings taking place in September 2009: Disaster Management Working Group on 11 September (14:00 hrs); Child Right Working Group on 21 September (14:00 hrs); Disability Working Group on 24 September (14:00 hrs). All meetings will take place at the NGO RC. Please check our calendar section for more events.

New Steering Committee Member Announcement

The VUFO-NGO Steering Committee (SC) has appointed a new SC member Ms. Yasmin Madan, Country Representative from Population Services International (PSI). This is following the news that our recently appointed SC member Mr. Dario Gentili, Country Director from Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) has announced that he will unexpectedly have to leave Vietnam.

As a part of the ongoing campaign, launched by the The Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange / Dioxin, there will be a meeting 'The Justice and the Heart' held on Saturday (8 August) starting at 20:30 hrs in Hanoi Cultural Palace, Tran Hung Dao 91. Please come and join other guests in commemorating the Day for the Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange, including the leaders of the Party and the State of Vietnam, diplomatic corps, representatives from ministries and international organizations.
