Welcome to the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for 15 - 30 March, 2011.

We are pleased to inform you of news from the United Nations. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon announced on March 11, 2011, the appointment of John Hendra, UN Resident Co-ordinator, to the position of Assistant Secretary-General for Policy and Programme at the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in New York. In this position within UN Women, Mr. Hendra will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Bureau, supporting policy analysis, research and training, programme management and oversight. He will also serve as one of the two Deputies to the Executive Director of UN Women, Michelle Bachelet.

There are three Working Group meetings in February and March: the Disaster Management Working Group will meet on February 18 (02:00) at the NGO Resource Centre; the Disability Working Group will meet on March 10 (02:00) at the NGO Resource Centre; the Child Rights Working Group will meet on March 16 (02:00) at the NGO Resource Centre.

We extend our best wishes to you all for Christmas and the new year, and look forward to working with you again in 2011. Enjoy the holidays, for those taking a holiday break, and we hope you return to work fully refreshed.

We would like to inform you that the Resource Centre office will be closed on Christmas Eve on Friday, 24 December, and New Yar's Eve on Friday 31st December, 2010.

There is one Working Group meeting remaining in December: the Disaster Management Working Group will meet on December 17 (02:00) at the NGO Resource Centre.

We are pleased to report that Caritas Switzerland is welcoming its new Representative for Vietnam, Mr. Graham Adutt. Mr. Graham can be contacted by email at [email protected]. We would like to say farewell to to Mr. Graham's predecessor as Caritas Switzerland Representative, Mr. Marco van Grinsven, thank him for his work, and extend our best wishes for the future.
