Développement International Desjardins (DID) is a non-government-organization which belongs to Desjardins Group in Canada. It was established with a mission to support the cooperative credit model in the world in general and in Vietnam in particular. It has implemented several projects in Vietnam since 1993 to assist the People's Credit Fund network in its establishment and development.
In 2015, DID in collaboration with the Cooperative Bank of Vietnam proposed a project to support strengthening the People's Credit Fund network in Vietnam to Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The project was approved by GAC for a five year period. The project name is "STrEngthening the People's Credit Funds network(STEP)".

Overview of the project: The Socialist Republic of Vietnam has received a grant of about 292 million USD from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank for urban upgrading investment in 6 Mekong Delta Region Cities and for coordination and capacity development of the Ministry of Construction. An agreement was signed on 11/5/2012 between the Government of Vietnam and the World Bank and effective as from 09/8/2012 to 31/12/2017 and extension period from 1/1/2018 to 29/6/2018.
