Duration:    7-10 Days

1. Background:

The “Responsible shrimp cultivation improvement programme in Vietnam” (RSCIP), SNV as the lead implementer, with local partners MCD and Ca Mau DARD, is in the process of assessing the Market map and Value chain of shrimp products from forest-shrimp farming in Ca Mau province – Vietnam. There are four critical issues which need further consideration in the development of this work:
i.Produce a market map that analyses critical success factors for creating an enabling environment and illustrates the relationships between actors;
ii.Draw the market chain (including middlemen, processors, traders,retailers,buyers) and illustrate price of product as it moves through the chain;
iii.Identify key market-chain actors and their roles;
iv.Examine powers and interests driving change and identify weak links in the value chain.

2. Tasks of the consultant:

The Objective of this assignment is to support the team and specifically the Program Leader to create a comprehensive report in Vietnamsese on the Market map and Value chain of shrimp products from forest-shrimp farming in Ca Mau province – Vietnam. 

Clear guidance should be provided in the following areas:
(i)Overall strategy in drafting a comprehensive final report that presents the data gathered through field research in a logical manner;
(ii)Draft report providing recommendations for each of the four critical issues that mention above;
(iii)Formatting, efficient and effective use of graphical representations of critical data.  To include tables, graphs, mathematical and statistical modelling.

3. Expected outputs and deliverables:

Based on the above tasks, the consultant should deliver a report providing recommendations for each of the four critical issues. A first draft should be completed within 70% of task days through to be tasked with the supervisor.

The final report should not be over 100 pages.

4. Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Aquaculture, Development, International studies or similar would be preferable.
- The consultant will have record of providing outputs on a strict time schedule.

5. Timeframe and Location

The consultant will be recruited for a total of 7-10 days. No field time is seen as necessary and the assignment can be completed remotely. They will work closely with the SNV Aquaculture Advisor.
