Training and Product Development Coordinator

The Component Trade and Marketing of Forest Products is one of three components of the Forestry Program, financed by German International Cooperation (GIZ) to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), implemented by GFA Consulting Group within the context of the Program with the first phase from Jan. 2006 – Oct. 2008, the second phase from Oct.2008 – Sep 2011 and in the third phase from Oct. 2011 until 31 March 2014. The component office located at 340 Bach Dang, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi, together with 2 other components of the Program. The component’s main activities are trainings and capacity building for the forestry and wood processing enterprises in term of processing techniques, marketing development.  We are now seeking qualified candidate for the positions of Training and Product development coordinator. The Training and Product development coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Component’s Chief Technical Advisor. Specific tasks:

Product development:
- Collect and review the ideas of product development for veneer
- Work with technical team of partner companies to develop the products made from veneer, resolve technical issues
- Support partner companies to develop technical details, drawings, material list, budgeting and manufacturing plans for the selected products
- Follow up the implementation of manufacturing plan of new products

Training:
- Conduct training need assessment and skill evaluation in wood processing
- Coordinate training courses and arrange training logistics and facilities
- Assist to provide training course in product development (furniture construction, material development)
- Develop training materials
- Evaluate training courses’ effectiveness and write training reports
- Follow up the training results and provide supports to partner companies in product development

Required qualification:
- University degree
- At least 2 years in product design & development in furniture processing companies. Experience with wooden products and veneer is preferable
- Good understanding in furniture construction and design
- Excellent communication and facilitation/visualizing skills).
- Team oriented spirit with inter-personal and cross-cultural communication skills and outcome oriented spirit.
- Good command of Vietnamese and English.

The working contract will be until 31 March 2014.
