SRI Technical Protocol Development Expert

The AusAID-funded project ‘Sowing the Seeds of Change: Community-based Climate Change Mitigation through Sustainable Rice Production’ (SRI) supports small-holder rice producers to improve rice production systems which are more resilient, emit fewer harmful greenhouse gases and remain profitable for farmers.  This project will support and build the capacity of small holder rice producers and provincial agencies to meet these requirements by applying the System of Rice Intensification.

This production system offers multiple benefits: environmentally safe production system; increased cost effectiveness via reduced inputs and increased returns, and potentially the opportunity for additional benefits to be derived from reducing GHG emissions. The benefits, opportunities and requirements for benefits to be derived from GHG emission reductions from rice production systems need to be further quantified.

SNV is now seeking an expert/specialist, who will work in close collaboration with SNV experts to develop a technical protocol on the system of rice intensification (SRI) application and update the SRI monitoring protocol. This work will mostly focus on the paddy rice production areas in Quang Ninh and Quang Trach districts, Quang Binh province. The expert will also provide guidance to SRI protocols and work implementation for project sites in Binh Dinh. Duration of the assignment is 16 man-days in the period from middle of  April to early May 2013. Details of the assignment please see the attached ToR.

Interested consultant should send a cover letter which includes specific reference to prior relevant experience, financial proposal, and the CV of the applicant to Mr. Le Minh Tuan ([email protected]).
