Organisation: Woolcock Institute of Medical Research in Vietnam

The Woolcock Institute is leading international lung health research organisation, affiliated with the University of Sydney in Australia (https://sydney.edu.au/). The Woolcock Institute has operated researches in Vietnam since 2009 and undertaken large operational, epidemiological and clinical research projects in several provinces, including Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City. The Woolcock also runs training in epidemiological and operational research methods for Vietnamese doctors and public health workers. Currently the Woolcock directly employs about 50 full-time staff and has expanded the research activity to other fields, including antimicrobial resistance, climate change, agriculture, environmental health, etc.

Overview: The expansion of our work allows us to extent our collaboration with stakeholders in, but not limited to, Australia, Vietnam, Canada and on health, agriculture, business, art, etc. As such, we would continue our existing engagement and also develop new engagement with key policy actors with a view of strengthening our local partnerships and identifying important outcomes that will feed into policies.

We are now recruiting a relationship manager who will lead the stakeholder engagement for our studies in Vietnam.

Location: Hanoi with possibility of domestic travel

Duration: 12 months appointment, with consideration for subsequent extension. This position will begin in August 2018.

Roles:

  • Being an ambassador for Woolcock in Vietnam and develop the organization’s profile
  • To develop equitable and highly effective partnerships with stakeholders.
  • To identify shared priorities based on common interests and agendas.
  • To promote enduring cross-disciplinary networks that will sustain impact beyond the life cycle of each project and across different projects of the organization.

Country Director, Woolcock Institute of Medical Research in Vietnam Principal Investigator, A/Prof Greg Fox

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To develop and strengthen key relationships with all partners (hospital, provincial, national and international; and civil society).
  • To contribute to the development of the document of stakeholder mapping and update the document as the projects go for all projects.
  • To contribute to the development of MOUs with key partners.
  • To implement the stakeholder engagement plans.
  • To keep project partners updated on project progress on quarterly basis.
  • To establish Social Media account and Website for the organization and projects and post news weekly.
  • To engage with Australian Embassy, DFAT, AusCham, etc in Vietnam.
  • To participate in organization of conferences, workshops by Woolcock.
  • To actively disseminate news on the organization, projects.
  • To arrange and receive visits by senior visitors, partners, donors and potential partners to the offices.
  • To work closely with Associate Director, Country Director and Chief Investigators.
  • To report on monthly basis to the management group of Woolcock.
  • To notify the project manager, Country Director and Chief Investigators about problems arising in the study.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within a health-related field
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural context and in developing country setting (preferably Vietnam)
  • Experience in engaging with government and non-government partners
  • Desirable: Degree in health-related field, business administration, foreign trade or international relations.
