Public Affairs Assistant

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As the Public Affairs Assistant you are responsible for providing support to both communications and sponsor relations (SR) units in the department, with major focus on multimedia for corporate communications and correspondence activities, contributing to the reputation of the ChildFund in Vietnam’s work as a thought leader in its specialist areas of focus: child rights and child protection, education, health and wellbeing for children.

KEY DUTIES

  • Source, edit/author a range of media engagement content;
  • Review content and publication of IEC materials of assigned sectors;
  • Work on media activities, including print, TV and Radio;
  • Conduct training to staff on media engagement;
  • Support internal communication activities and advocacy campaigns and events;
  • Supervise sponsorship correspondence products from children in the assigned area(s);
  • Support with other sponsor relations tasks including capacity building to Area Development Offices and commune partners, processing of sponsors’ letters and child profiles, when required;
  • Contribute to the development and execution of Public Affairs Department’s strategy;
  • Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding or sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment (SEAH) risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding and PSEAH policy and procedures, and conduct yourself consistent with those policies.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • University qualification in English, communications, journalism or relevant fields;
  • Content development experience across all forms of media – digital and offline – including written and visual materials;
  • Highly computer literate with experience in using Microsoft Office applications and graphic design software;

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated photography and videography skills;
  • Experience in similar positions in child-focused programs or in NGOs / INGOs.

SKILLS

  • Creative mindset, with an attention to detail;
  • Proven writing and storytelling skills in both English and Vietnam;
  • Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Suite (especially Ai, Id, Pr);
  • Works well under pressure and is deadline driven;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Innovative, well-organised and self-motivated.
