BORDA Vietnam is integrated into the global BORDA network and is a member of the South-East-Asian regional development project “Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in South East Asia” with regional project office in Yogyakarta / Indonesia.

Since 2001 BORDA focuses in Vietnam on the development of co-operations aiming sustainable and environmentally sound solutions to sustain the functioning of eco-systems through the dissemination of demand oriented Basic-Needs-Services:

BORDA has engaged into cooperation projects with the Vietnam Academy for Water Resources (VAWR under MARD) and its Institute for Hydropower and Renewable Energy (IHR) in 2001.
In 2004 BORDA introduced its technology of Decentralized Waste Water Treatment System (DEWATS) to Vietnam. Until now several project implementations have been accomplished e.g. for hospitals in Kim Bang and Than Hoa, bear rescue centre in Tam Dao, community based sanitation for Kieu Ky, slaughterhouse in Halong and prison in Ninh Binh province; others are under construction and will be monitored and checked by BORDA Vietnam.

BORDA - with funds from the German Government - supports efforts to reduce poverty (i.e. improve living conditions and social structures) through disseminating environmental-friendly means of water supply, wastewater treatment and energy generation. The programme focuses at the moment on northern provinces and is based on significant local contributions.

BORDA Cooperation Office is seeking a qualified and experienced Vietnamese candidate for the position of: Project Officer

Duty Station: Hanoi with sporadic field visits to project sites in the Northern provinces of the Red River Delta

Main responsibilities:
- Assist the BORDA project management to communicate with national and international partners and authorities in Vietnam, maintain such contacts and establish new contacts autonomously
- Prepare, organise meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences
- Coordinate with VAWR/ CTIC the implementation of DEWATS programs, including travelling to implementation sites, preparing contracts with provinces
- Identify potential partner organisations for program implementation;
- Attend meetings together with or on behalf of BORDA Vietnam, including giving presentations about the programme
- Assist in the preparation of public relation material (including monthly articles, brochure, leaflets, etc);
- Report progress of the BORDA-Vietnam project to the BORDA Regional Project Office quarterly
- Document all the BORDA-VAWR activities as specified within the annual work-plan
- Translate documents English/Vietnamese and interpret during meetings and seminars;
- Conduct any other job assigned by the BORDA project management related to the implementation of the BORDA co-operation program in Vietnam
- Maintain & manage electronic document management system (EDMS) of BORDA

Minimum qualifications:  
- University graduate with environmental, communication or social sciences background or in a relevant field of expertise
- At least 2 years of professional experience in project work
- Excellent command of English including writing skills
- Good facilitation and communication skills
- Good command of MS-office applications
- Experience in project management is preferable
