Project Assistant

SNV - Netherlands Development Organisation is a Non-Governmental Organisation working in Vietnam since 1995. SNV supports local organisations (state and non-state) in poverty reduction, mostly at the meso level, through a combination of advisory, knowledge brokering and advocacy services. SNV Vietnam invests in different programs, i.e. Agriculture & Forest Products, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, Renewable Energy/Biogas, Pro-Poor Sustainable Tourism, Inclusive Business and Climate Change.

SNV Vietnam together with the Directorate of Forestry and other partners are piloting a project on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD). The project intends to examine test and introduce payments schemes, tapping into carbon markets, which will provide incentives for local communities to protect rather than convert the forest landscape around Cat Tien National Park. The project is supported by the UK Government and will work closely with the International Institute of Environment and Development (IIED).  In 2011, SNV will launch a new Project ‘Exploring mechanisms to promote High Biodiversity REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation): Piloting in Viet Nam’ also in partnership with Directorate of Forestry and other local stakeholders which will explore how to put into operation mechanisms to monitor adherence to biodiversity standards as part of any National REDD+ framework. SNV is looking for a dynamic and creative Vietnamese candidate to fill in the post of: Project Assistant

Duty station: Cat Tien district – Lam Dong province with frequent travel to other provinces

Main duties and responsibilities:
Administrative assistance:
- Assist in providing logistical arrangements in including transportations, hotel bookings for SNV advisors, visitors and consultants coming for the Project’s activities;
- Arrange meetings, mission schedules for SNV advisors, visitors and consultants for the Project’s activities;
- Assist in preparing letters/mails to relevant project partners; facilitating requests for permission for international consultants to work in the project sites;
- Assist in preparation and organisational matters for trainings and other capacity building activities of the Projects;
- Develop and maintain a records filing system of incoming/outgoing mails/letters; project documents/communication materials;
- Update contact details for key project partners;
- Regularly communicate with SNV Hanoi and Hue offices all project progress and relevant issues of the project sites;
- Provide periodical inventories of office equipments.

Finance assistance:
- Assist with preparation of monthly budget plan
- Monitoring budgets of the field project activities, and related issues;
- Prepare and check correctness of invoices /receipts;
- Manage the petty cash levels in the office, ensure payments to the suppliers

Requirements:
- University degree in Economics, Administration or related fields;
- Minimum of 2 years experience in administrative and/or financial assistance;  Experience with INGO is an advantage
- Strong organizing skills and understanding of administrative procedures;
- Adequate  understanding of financial and accounting procedures;
- Ability to work independently and in team and to set up harmonious and effective working relationships
- Good communication skills in English in both spoken and written;  
- Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email, Power Points)

Duration of assignment
SNV offers a one-year contract with the possibility of extension and a competitive salary package.
