Job Title:         PROGRAM MANAGER
Report to:         Country Director

Job summary:    The Program Manager works closely with the Country Director (CD) and other PSI Vietnam team members to manage multiple rural social marketing programs designed to improve maternal and child health and eliminate malaria among rural communities.  S/he is responsible for ensuring that PSI’s rural social marketing programs are consistent with global best practices as well as national guidelines and policies.  S/he is responsible for driving measurable improvements in rural health outcomes by working through private sector outlets—including pharmacies and clinics—in collaboration with provincial and national government partners.  The Program Manager champions private sector solutions with the potential to strengthen Vietnam’s overall health system.  This is a leadership position, with responsibilities to contribute to senior management decisions and high-level PSI Vietnam representation with key partners and funders at national, provincial and global levels.

Major duties:

  • Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of innovative social marketing programs designed to address critical health issues affecting rural communities in Vietnam, including malaria, maternal and child health and safe water/sanitation. 
  • Actively promote the potential for private sector solutions with external partners, providing leadership on issues relating to social marketing for malaria elimination, WASH and other rural health priorities. The Program Manager will meet regularly with counterparts across Vietnam at both national and provincial levels, working to ensure that stakeholders are well informed about PSI’s private sector approaches/results/lessons, and will have primary responsibility for developing and monitoring partnerships with private sector, civil society and government partners in multiple rural provinces consistent with compliance policies and project deliverables.    
  • Regularly document, assess and lead inter-departmental review sessions of progress against key program-related project deliverables, to facilitate internal and external discussions regarding how best to increase measurable health outcomes and meet contract deliverables.  The incumbent will also be responsible for developing high-quality reports and responding to requests from donors and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other PSI teams (Research, Product Social Marketing, BCC, Health Services) to ensure that rural health programs are designed with local evidence and implemented in line with rural project deliverables as well as international best practices related to social marketing, malaria elimination and WASH.  

Selection criteria:

  • Masters of Public Health and/or Medical Doctor (MD) degree preferred
  • Experience designing/managing malaria, WASH or another rural health programs preferred
  • Project, budget & people management experience
  • Excellent english verbal and written communication skills
  • Solution-oriented attitude & results-driven work style
  • Expertise/prior experience in social marketing or other private sector approaches to improving public health outcomes an added advantage
