Vietnam Australia Centre, Aus4Skills

The goal of Aus4Skills is to support Vietnam to access and use high level professional and technical knowledge, skills and competencies, to contribute to the country’s sustainable economic and inclusive development. The program also aims to deepen Vietnamese and Australian people-to-people and institutional links and therefore strengthen the partnership between the two countries.

Aus4Skills seeks to achieve the following three whole-of-program outcomes:

  • Male and female alumni use new skills and knowledge to make positive contributions to selected priority areas of Vietnam
  • Selected Government of Vietnam, private sector and civil organisations, and other partners, demonstrate positive organisational change in policies, practices or performance standards
  • Australia and Vietnam have stronger, sustainable links in selected sectors and agencies.

Vietnam Australia Centre draws on Australian and Vietnamese experts to support Vietnam’s future leadership to address national and international challenges. It will enable Vietnam and Australia to bring together influential men and women leaders to pursue policy solutions to shared regional issues, while deepening people to people and institutional links.

Aus4Skills and the Vietnam Australia Centre are managed by Tetra Tech International Development on behalf of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of VAC research and advisory activities to support their effective and efficient delivery in terms of administrative, financial and logistical support
  • Coordinate support for Australian delivery partners to ensure VAC research and advisory activities are delivered
  • Contribute to the delivery of monitoring and evaluation activities (such as debriefings, surveys, feedback forms, service provider reports etc.)
  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of governance activities of the VAC including meetings and the preparation of related documents
  • Assist with the preparation of VAC research and advisory budgets and forecasting reports, including the monitoring of expenditure and commitments, and identifying variances between approved budgets and actual expenditures
  • Assist in identifying risks and mitigation measures for VAC research and advisory activities and implementing those measures

Selection criteria

  • Relevant undergraduate tertiary qualifications or professional experience
  • At least five years’ experience in project management or human resource development in an international development context
  • Professional experience with coordinating research or similar projects as well as the planning and delivery of social networking and professional development events
  • Finance or budgeting related experience
  • Good inter-personal and oral and written communication skills in Vietnamese and English language
  • Good computer skills, including the ability to use databases, create presentations and learn customised programs designed for supporting networks of people
  • Knowledge of alumni engagement an advantage
