Description of the project the Intern will complete:

PATH is currently seeking a qualified Program Associate Intern for a Fondation Botnar - funded program, “Fit for the future: Leveraging data and frontier technologies to build a non-communicable diseases (NCDs) program for youth, with youth.” The project’s goal is to improve young people’s health through controlling and eliminating risk behaviors associated with NCDs.

The Program Associate Intern will work closely with the project team to support reviewing, developing and translating training and communication documents and tools. The Program Associate Intern will report to the Primary Health Care Deputy Director and work closely with PATH Vietnam program team.

Description of overall learning objectives and goals for the internship/benefit to the Intern:

To gain practical experiences in the international NGO environment in terms of project implementation & management, including regular duties, and responsibilities of program and/ or position; This includes learning and practicing enhancement / development training curriculums, Information, Education and Communication/ Behavior Change Communication (IEC/ BCC) materials for NCD prevention and control.

Brief description of required skills/experience the intern should possess:

  • Recently graduated or senior students at a university on public health, preventive medicine or any related fields is preferred.
  • High level of accuracy, responsibility, teamwork and collaboration, and work ethics
  • Good creativity, adaptability, flexibility, problem-solving, professionalism.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.
  • Strong MS Office, especially Word and PowerPoint or other software for editing photos, making presentations.
  • Motivation and strong desire to learn and take on new challenges.

Skills to be developed and/or expanded during internship:

  • Experience in enhancement / development content and design of applications for health education specifically targeting NCDs, training curriculums for both school and community environments, as well as IEC/ BCC material.
  • Project implementation and management
  • Writing academic skill
  • Skills of communication and coordination
  • Team working skills.
  • Other related skills of logistics arrangement, financial process, event organization and administration

Proposed activities:

  • Participate in reviewing the package of youth’s frequency questions & answers on NCDs for youth, specifically on mental health and wellbeing, adding additional necessary questions.
  • Assist PATH & MOET writing board for enhancing and/or developing of the training curriculum, follow up with the editorial group to ensure the progress is in line with the plan.
  • Support the development of IEC/BCC materials for NCDs program, mobile\web-based heath applications (posters, user guide video, booklet...) and other products.
  • Learn about project monitoring and evaluation framework and tools and assist project team to carry out M&E activities.
  • Participate in other projects and NCD-related tasks and activities that may arise during the course.

Candidates must currently have legal authorization to work in Vietnam.
