Background

FHI 360 is a non-profit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. Our staff includes experts in Health, Education, Nutrition, Environment, Economic Development, Civil Society, Gender, Youth, Research and Technology; creating a unique mix of capabilities to address today's interrelated development challenges. We are seeking professional photographer(s) create stocks of the EpiC project related photos.

EpiC:

Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is a global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). EpiC Vietnam’s goal is to deliver efficient, affordable, results-based technical assistance and direct services while closing remaining gaps in Vietnam’s efforts to meet HIV epidemic control targets and address the global COVID-19 pandemic. EpiC also has funds to combat trafficking in persons in Vietnam.

Scope of Work

The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for taking photos at the EpiC project’s sites and in the community. Content will be focus on capturing the complexity of EpiC’s portfolio as shown in the table in Appendix 1 attached.

The selected photographs will be used for EpiC’s communications purposes and be published in various publications, presentations, IEC and campaign materials.

Deliverables

The photographer(s) will be expected to provide following services:

  • Provide any information required to meet FHI 360 and USAID organizational policies including details of all electronic equipment to be used.
  • Meet with EpiC team to provide consultation and agreement on the detailed photoshoot concepts, as well as a timeline of the photoshoot.
  • Understand the project’s requirements of consent forms for photographs (EpiC team will provide the necessary information) and ensure all consent forms from concerned people are completed, collected, and organized alongside to correspond with the final photos.
  • Engage in onsite photoshoots (maximum 9 days). Within five days after completing the shooting, the photographers should send EpiC (either on a portable storage device, with links to the photo stock, or via email):
  1. A complete set of images as RAW files (300 pixels/inch, minimum 100 edited/usable images are expected to be delivered per one day of work)
  2. A set of edited color or black and white in high resolution JPEG files
  3. A set of color or black and white in lower resolution JPEG files
  • Adjust any images showing personally identifying information (i.e., social health insurance or ID numbers, names, etc.) before initial photo delivery.
  • Adjust the images according to the project’s feedback.

Notes:

  • FHI 360 will arrange approvals to shoot in any government locations.
  • FHI 360 will arrange all travel required to complete this scope of work.
  • All photos should be accompanied by captions, including names of the subjects in the photo (if faces are shown), location, and general description of what happens in the photos.
  • The copyright of all photos taken during the assignment (raw and edited) belongs to FHI 360.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified as professional photographer and a demonstrated minimum of five years’ experience as professional photographer.
  • Have their own photography equipment including but not limited to cameras, lenses, lights, tripods, filters.
  • Proven expertise in photo-related editing software.
  • Good knowledge of technical requirements for taking photos in various settings, i.e., outdoor, indoor, portrait, activities, etc.
  • Experience working on topics related to healthcare, hospitals, HIV, combatting trafficking in persons, LGBTQ+ community, is an asset.
  • Documented experience providing photography services for FHI 360, USAID or other INGOs, development programs, nonprofit or government agencies in Vietnam, is an asset.
  • Be able to commit maximum 15 days of traveling for photo shooting.

Required Documentation

Proposals must include the following components:

  • Technical proposal:
  1. CV, diplomas, certificates of photography-related studies.
  2. Professional portfolio showing a range of previous work. Links to sites/publications where the works have been published.
  3. A letter explaining pre- and post-production capabilities.
  4. List of available photography equipment to be used for this assignment.
  • Financial proposal: Daily consultancy fee for each day of work.
  • Two professional references.

  • FHI 360 may reject any or all responses received
  • Issuance of the solicitation does not constitute an award commitment by FHI 360

  • FHI 360 will not compensate any offeror for responding to solicitation
  • FHI 360 reserves the right to issue award based on initial evaluation of offers without further discussion
  • FHI 360 may choose to award only part of the activities in the solicitation, or issue multiple awards based on the solicitation activities
