Plastic Waste Corordinator; Project Officers; Junior Project Officer

WWF was one of the first International non-government organizations working in Vietnam. In 1985, WWF began working on a national conservation strategy and since then has worked closely with the Vietnamese Government on a diverse range of environment issues and implemented field activities across the country.

We are looking for dynamic, result-driven individuals for the following 4 positions:

1. PLASTIC WASTE COORDINATOR (base in Phu Quoc Island or Hochiminh city, Vietnam)

Major functions: Leading the waste programme, the Coordinator will be in charge of ensuring the technical aspects of all relevant projects and activities. He/she will also be responsible to act as a focal-point contact in terms of plastic waste issues; represent WWF-Vietnam to work with partners as well as to report to donors in such exciting projects like “Reduction of Marine Litter by better Waste Management & Recycling in the Mekong Delta Area” in Long An, “Municipal Waste Recycling Programme to Reduce Plastics Pollution of the Oceans – Vietnam” in Phu Quoc and “Building Plastic Pollution Free Cities Program in Vietnam”. The main activities include but not limited to national level communications campaigns, field-based pilot, educational programme, corporate engagements and evidence-based policy advocacy.

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Master degree or higher degree in fields related to Waste management or Waste treatment technology, Natural resources management, Environmental science
  • Proven experiences in planning and implementation of GO and NGO’s projects, experiences in working or liaison with GO and NGO bodies (e.g protected area, national park), and working in multi-stakeholder settings;
  • Background with communications campaigns a benefit
  • Project management skills;
  • Problem solving and management of conflict and risk skills;
  • Excellent presentation, communications, and public speaking skills;
  • Good research, training skills, report writing skills

2. PROJECT OFFICER (02 positions, base in Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam)

Major functions: Responsible for the field implementation of activities under projects/ programs, in Phu Quoc island, that he/ she is assigned to in compliance to donor’s and WWF’s requirements/ policies, with good quality (as working conditions allows) in a timely manner.

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor degree or preferably Master degree or higher degree in fields related to Waste management or Waste treatment technology, Natural resources management, Environmental science, technology or biology
  • Proven experiences in planning and implementation of GO and NGO’s projects
    • Experiences in working or liaison with GO and NGO bodies (e.g protected area, national park), and working in multi-stakeholders settings
    • Good understanding of Phu Quoc and issues related to: conservation, climate adaptation, water resources management (quantity and quality), environmental protection and communication for changes
  • Can-do attitude and result-oriented communication mind-set
  • Organising / planning and problem-solving skills
  • Communication skills on behavior change
  • Good research, presentation, training skills, report writing skills

3. JUNIOR PROJECT OFFICER (base in Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam)

Major functions:  Responsible for the field implementation of activities and projects/ programs, in Phu Quoc island, that he/ she is assigned to in compliance to donor’s and WWF’s requirements/ policies, with good quality (as working conditions allows) in a timely manner. Currently, the Junior Project Officer is assigned to the USAID project “Phu Quoc – Towards a Plastic Waste Free Island in Vietnam” that started in June 2018; and it is subjected to changes depending on fund availability under the program

Key requirements for the role include:

  • College or Bachelor degree
  • Knowledge on working in communication, waste reduction/management is advantage
  • Can-do attitude and result-oriented communication mind-set
  • Organising / planning and problem-solving skills
  • Communication skills on behavior change
  • Good presentation, training skills, report writing skills
