GIZ implements the project “Promote and Pilot a Public Bike-Sharing (PBS) Scheme in Vietnam towards Sustainable Urban Mobility and Smart Cities”, which is financed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is implemented under a public private partnership agreement (DeveloPPP) in cooperation with Vietsoftpro. The objective of the project is to promote the use of bicycles and to create an enabling environment for Public Bike Sharing schemes in urban areas of Vietnam, namely in the city of Hue and Ho Chi Minh city.

The DeveloPPP PBS project works under the umbrella of the GIZ project “Support to Vietnam for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement” (VN-SIPA), which support the Government of Viet Nam in establishing the framework conditions to implement the NDC and the Paris Agreement on climate change.

The DeveloPPP PBSproject is looking for a local qualified Intern for an internship opportunity:

National Intern
Learning Area: Promote PBS and Cycling Culture
Duty station: Hanoi
Duration: 3-6 months starting from March 10, 2022

The National Intern will learn & practice in different activities:

  • Assist the project team in the elaboration of ideas/concepts, data collection, desk research, drafting invitations, reports, and contact with key stakeholders where relevance;
  • Support quality assurance in technical activities and deliverables of the consultant contracts, particularly under the action area “Technical guideline/regulations”;
  • Support other project activities under other action areas, as required;
  • Provide ad hoc support to document/data review/checking and verification;
  • Provide assistance to internal meetings and discussions (e.g., agenda, protocol preparation, equipment setup, minute meeting notes);
  • Provide translation services when needed (between English and Vietnamese);
  • Support to the preparation of workshops, trainings, field visit, communication activities and other events;
  • Support review and research on climate finance, green bond, carbon pricing and carbon market under guidance of management;
  • Perform other duties and tasks at the request of management.

Minimum requirements:

  • Vietnamese nationality.
  • Available to work in Hanoi for a full-time position in 3- or 6-months duration.
  • Currently undertaking or has recently completed postgraduate/bachelor studies in international relation, business management, finance, climate change policy, climate change mitigation or related field.
  • Interest in the climate change mitigation and related issues.
  • Previous experience working constructively in a team setting (be it an official or intern position) is an asset.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English and Vietnamese; study in international environment will be an advantage.
  • Strong MS Office, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Highly motivated to learn and to contribute to a young and dynamic team of international and national staff with the aim to sustainable development and climate change mitigation in Viet Nam.
  • Ability to work very precisely and flexibly; Able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Willing to take on responsibility and undertake travel to project sites for work if necessary.
  • The internship requires university enrolment or the finalization of your degree no longer than six months ago upon commencement of the internship.
