Project Objective

SI is implementing the new USAID/Vietnam Learns Contract. The scope of the five-year project is to support USAID/Vietnam staff and its implementing partners to implement more efficient, effective, and sustainable programs by (1) improving staff P knowledge and skills in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) and Collaborating, Learning & Adapting (CLA); (2) advancing evidence-informed decision-making; (3) strengthening strategic collaboration between staff and local stakeholders. 

Position Description

SI seeks to hire 03 full-time Monitoring interns to the 12-month Internship program at USAID-Learns starting in October or November 2020.

Selection Criteria

  • Recent university graduate, undergraduate or master’s degree (no more than 2 years ago)
  • Strong data analytic skills
  • Keen interest in data management and data visualization
  • Keen interest in contributing to sustainable development goals
  • Strong verbal and written English
  • Able to pay close attention to details

Interns will be expected to:

  • With the support and guidance of the team or publicly available resources, become familiar with all relevant (M&E and CLA) USAID policy and requirements
  • Participate in:
    • all training sessions related to M&E and CLA conducted by USAID Learns
    • other events and/or Data Quality Assurance (DQA) visits whenever possible/relevant
  • As requested, actively contribute to the team’s
    • day-to-day activities, including in some cases logistical support to trainings & events
    • knowledge management and reporting needs, especially the USAID Learns Best Practice Library
    • document reviews
    • data verifications & data entry
    • the strengthening of data analysis and data visualization
  • Support the Monitoring team to maintain and update USAID Learns’ dashboards.
  • Note: As part of the internship program, interns may be expected to conduct assignments which will be shadowing (repeating) active or past Learns assignments as part of the learning-by-doing process
  • By the end of the assignment, interns should be able to independently :
    • Draft an AMELP which meets USAID Vietnam quality standards
    • Offer technical assistance on how to draft an AMELP
    • Prepare for a DQA visits/reports which meets USAID Vietnam quality standards
    • Support / lead on the strengthening on data management, data-visualization and data-use
    • Enter audible data on USAID’s Data Information Solutions (DIS) system
    • Be familiar with and able to aptly talk about Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation, their respective purpose, standard approaches and mechanisms (the why, how, best practices, etc.…) 
    • Assume the roles & responsibilities of an MEL officer working under USAID-funded project

Terms of the internship

  • Duration: up to 12 months
  • Remuneration: A stipend of USD 500 per month
  • Benefits: social and health insurance according to the local labor law.
