VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR A MEDICAL COORDINATOR FOR OST PROJECT IN HCMC

The WISTAR Institute (USA) is a global leader in biomedical research with an expertise in cancer, immunology, and infectious diseases. University of Pennsylvania (UPENN, USA) is one the most powerful institution in term of research and teaching.

In partnership with the Medical Institute of Applied Epidemiology (IMEA, FRANCE), they are willing to implement a 5-year research in HCMC, namely: “Effects of mu-opiate receptor engagement on microbial translocation and residual immune activation in HIV-infected, ART suppressed opioid use disorder patients initiating medication-assisted treatment.”,

The program will be under the local management of Ho Chi Minh city Aids Association (HAA), in coordination with the Centre of Disease Control and PASTEUR Institute of Ho Chi Minh City and Paris.

We are looking for a medical coordinator all along the 5 years of the project.

Main responsibilities and requested qualifications are as follows:

Main responsibilities of the medical coordinator are to:

  • Support international and local partners in implementing the project,
  • Participate to the supervision and follow up of the project, particularly on clinical, technical and research aspects,
  • Ensure quality of protocols, processes and logistics for circulating biological samples from investigation centres to Pasteur institute HCMC,
  • Lead and take part in timely collection and analyse of data and indicators,
  • Ensure that technical reports are finalized in due time,
  • Gather and communicate information related to the evolution of HIV prevention and care, IDU care and support at provincial and national level,
  • Ensure good relationships with HCMC health authorities, technical partners, NGOs and networks,
  • Represent the program in regional or national technical meetings,
  • Participate in monthly phone meetings with Wistar institute, UPENN, IMEA and Pasteur Institutes,
  • Support the partners in preparing and organizing missions and training workshops.

Qualifications :

  • Medical doctor,
  • Experience in addiction care, opioid substitution treatment and HIV/AIDS care,
  • Knowledge in Public Health and experience in health program management or research,
  • Vietnamese national; Good English writing and speaking, speaking French an asset;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Power Point...) and statistical softwares,
  • Dynamism, flexibility, good communication skills, capacity for teamwork.

Conditions :

  • Part time position (50%),
