Innovation Manager

SNV Vietnam is looking for Innovation Manager, based in Hanoi, Vietnam with travel to other provinces.

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+(Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).

The Inclusive Business Accelerator Vietnam (IBA), managed by SNV in international partnership with BoP Innovation Center, Venture Capital for Africa (VC4A), and Nyenrode Business University, is the first one-stop shop in the country for various services needed by businesses which include low-income groups in their operations. We use innovative acceleration models to make the businesses investor-ready. Our scope of services include: Market Intelligence & Opportunity Identification, Business Design & Readiness, and Investor – Investee Match-making.

There are two types of engagement with the IBA: 1/ IBA Acceleratee Program, a special service package for inclusive businesses with 9-12 months of time commitment; and 2/ IBA Non-Acceleratee Program, another package that offers tailored-made services upon request. We are interested in agribusiness, sustainable energy, water, and ICT innovations.

We are seeking a candidate who is doing well in the private sector but wants to take her/his career to a new level in an innovation and entrepreneurship context.

Responsibilities

• Implement the market/opportunity scanning on enterprises (both growth stage and start-up stage), development agencies, donors and investors whose are potential clients and partners for IBA project
• Conduct investment analysis, business plan development
• Participate in data analysis and assessments on various parts of enterprises’ business operations
• Support IBA team with organizing events to call for applications, create match-making between investors and investees, and develop mentor network
• Test and pilot innovative products and services
• Monitor service providers’ activities
• Support any other tasks as requested by the IBA project manager

Candidate profile

• University degree in Technology, Innovation, Business Administration, or Finance; Master degree and overseas education would be an advantage
• At least 4 years of experience in business incubation, management consulting, or corporate finance advisory
• Prior experience with a business incubator would be a significant plus
• Willingness to travel to project sites on a regular basis
• Proactive and creative in solving problems
• Strong ability to work independently, be hardworking and a team player
• Good organizational skills and interpersonal skills
• Good oral and written communication skills in English
• Good computer skills in Power Point and Excel

Contract Duration:  SNV Vietnam offers 1-year employment contract with the possibility of extension (subject to work performance in the first year)
