Extension Advisor

Roots of Peace is an international non-profit with experience worldwide. They have a project that has so far planted over 250,000 cacao seedlings and trained over 840 farmers in best management practices in cacao. They are looking to hire a motivated candidate to work as part of the Binh Phuoc team that includes 3 Vietnamese nationals and 2 American Nationals. 

Terms of Reference for Extension Advisor, SHADE Project
- Assist Roots of Peace Management in selecting farmers for participating in the production of cacao
- Assist in conducting the Baseline Survey for the Project
- Assist in establishing and conducting the on-farm cacao demonstrations and the Farmer Field Schools
- Provide weekly workplans in advance to Roots of Peace Management
- Work collaboratively with the Local Government (Aquaculture and Agriculture Extension Center - AAEC) Extension Agents in assisting the cacao farmers 
- Work collaboratively with other key stakeholders in the value chain to integrate their work into the project
- Train farmers that are planting cacao and/or trying to improve their pod-bearing cacao trees in best production and post-harvest practices
- Provide technical assistance to selected farmers on improving their production and post-harvest practices
- Assist in the formation and development of cocoa clubs
- Assist in the monitoring and evaluation activities of the Project
- Meet weekly with Roots of Peace Management to discuss progress, challenges, etc.
- Submit monthly reports to Roots of Peace Management  

Job Requirements
- Vietnamese with a 4-year college degree in agriculture or business
- At least 2 years experience working in agricultural production and/or post-harvest or in other rural/agricultural enterprise development work
- Good communication skills with good English speaking, reading, and writing skills
- Good computer skills with Word and Excel
- Willing to work in Binh Phuoc province, 2 years
