Database Administrator

Technical Assistance to Business Registration Reform in Vietnam" Project (BRR) is co-funded by the Swiss Government, the Norwegian Government and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The project aims to provide policy and technical advice towards the achievement of nationwide business registration reform. As a result, enterprises will be able to register for business, tax code, statistics and seals through a single-point, using a consolidated form and obtain a unique enterprise ID. National capacities, as well as capacities in 63 provinces, will be developed to simplify the legal framework, processes and procedures and to set up and operate the computerized National Business Registry System (NBRS). The project will contribute to achievement of Outcome 1 (Output 1.12, Expected Result 1.12.5) of One UN Plan 2006-2010".

They are currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Database Administrator who will be responsible for:
1. Administer and control NBRS data resources, including relational databases and servers
2. Perform tuning and optimisation of NBRS database on a regular basis to improve database performance
3. Troubleshoot and resolve database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, security issues
4. Monitor NBRS database regularly to ensure availability and continuity
5. Perform maintenance, patching and upgrading of NBRS database
6. Work with system administrators to ensure data integrity and security, recover corrupted data, restore data and eliminate data redundancy
7. Work with the IT Software Development Team on data storage and performance considerations for applications being developed
8. Perform physical database design, create physical database tables (from designs provided by the database modeler) (where necessary)
9. Prepare a final report at the end of the assignment.

Location: Hanoi and/or other provinces
Duration: 3 months initially with possibility to extend
Date required: As soon as possible

Qualification:
- Educational background (university degree) in Information Technology. Good communication skills in Vietnamese and English.
- Extensive experiences with Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server or other relational databases; good knowledge of SQL programming.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
- Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
- Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication.
- Familiarity with Oracle Database 11g R2 is an advantage.
