Consulting Services to Deliver Remote Sensing Training in Nghe An Province

The Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forest (LEAF) is a 5 year program, funded by United States Agency for International Development funded program. LEAF program will be implemented from 2011 to 2015, through Winrock International, the Netherlands Development Organisation - SNV and Climate Focus.

Remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) plays a key role in measuring, modelling and monitoring reductions in greenhouse gas emissions as well as planning REDD+ activities. The followings are identified as the training demands from relevant agencies in the GIS capacity survey:

- Advanced training on GIS- ArcGIS, MapInfo, to analyse the forestry related maps.

- Spatial and satellite images interpretation skills (Software ENVI applied in the forest cover change monitoring, other technology helps develop the forest status map, impact evaluation maps…

- Any advanced data storage software to manage the samples, data

The training course on basic Remote sensing in October will be the first training course which will aim to introduce the foresters to basics of the Remote Sensing with emphasis on the satellite image interpretation and integration with GIS. This training course will help them to develop forestry–related maps for monitoring terrestrial land use and forest cover mapping. Training planed 22 – 24 October.

Team of consultants need to submit their CVs and proposed training schedule (Agenda, training material, data available for exercise, software..etc) with full explanation to meet the requirements of the attached ToR (in both English and Vietnamese).
