Working with in-country partners, IRRI develops advanced rice varieties that yield more grain and better withstand pests and disease as well as flooding, drought, and other harmful effects of climate change.

Job Purpose

To be a national consultant for the GIZ-PINstraw project within the activity of developing training materials, contributing as a resource person to the demonstrations and trainings on mechanized rice straw composting and conduct a workshop of the GIZ-PINstraw project from in 2021-2023.

The identified candidate shall only be required to work 50 days from 1 May 2021 until 15 Oct 2023 (at least 15 days per year) and shall be a permanent resident of Vietnam.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop training manual on rice straw composting
• Provide hand-ons training on mechanized composting for the project partners (maximum 6 trainings in 3 years)
• Conduct data analysis and writing the report of field trials, demonstrations, and trainings.
• Training manual on rice straw composting
• The hands-on trainings conducted in project sites (a field trial at Rynan JSC and one trainings in MRD of Vietnam)
• Technical report on demonstrations, trainings, and related implementations

Qualifications

• PhD in Agricultural Engineering
• More than 5 years working on agriculture

Skills Required

Mandatory

• Agricultural engineering
• Experience in rice straw composting
