WORK CONTEXT / BACKGROUND:

World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization working to create lasting change in the lives of children, families and communities living in poverty. World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. As a child-focused organization, World Vision’s work focuses on children, ensuring they are protected and their basic needs are met.

World Vision International in Vietnam (WVI Vietnam) is implementing 36 Sponorship funded Area Programmes (APs) which operate in 14 provinces. Beside the Sponsorship funded APs, WVI Vietnam is also implementing Grant funded Projects to meet the specific needs of vulnerable children in both Area Programs and non-Area Program areas.

The 2018 National Baseline Survey (NBS) from WVI Vietnam, conducted across14 provinces where WVI Vietnam has programs, indicates that the most common form of child abuse in Vietnam is physical violence, with an alarming proportion of 33.2% or 1,503 children and adolescents (out of the total 4,523 children and adolescents surveyed) reporting having experienced physical violence in the previous 12 months preceding the survey; 19.2% of the 1,503 children experienced violence from their peers.

With the funding from Orion Foundation and Orion Food Vina through World Vision Korea, World Vision Vietnam is collaborating with local authorities to implement the grant project “Building “Hope in class” to end violence against children at school” in two Northen provinces: Hai Phong and Thanh Hoa covering 20 schools  and reaching an estimated 10,000 children.

I.        Purpose of consultancy service

The consultancy is required to equip basic knowledge and skills of videomaking for key participants from target schools. After training, these participants are expected to be able to  make video by themselves and teach other children and teachers in  videomaking.

II.        Expected outputs

  • A trainer will develop training contents which will be approved by WVI Vietnam for 20 coaches who are chosen from 20 target schools in the list of beneficiaries of the project (Appendix attached).
  • Help new starters understand what they will prepare before making a video.
  • Participants are able to make a plan a shoot before the camera starts rolling and follow up with guiding others and making campaign dance video.
  • Participants have basic knowledge on shotting by camera and making a video.
  • Participants are able to shot and make campaign dance video; can guide children/ other teacher to make a video.
  • Help participants learn how to create a video proposal that identifies the scope, rates, and materials needed.
  • Participants are able to use video making software.
  • Participants are able to make new campaign video by themselves.

III.        Tentative venue and timeline

The course will be held in Phuong Hoang hotel: 998 Hùng V??ng Avenue, Dong Hai ward, Thanh Hoá city from 14 – 18th September 2020.

V.        Estmated budget

The estimated budget for consultancy service is 20,000,000 VN?, inclusive of travelling and accommodation.

VI.        Requirement for a consultant

  • Bachelor's degree in film editing or related degree is required.
  • Cirriculum for each lesson during 5-day course is required.
  • Professional mastery of video and audio editing software and programs.
  • Creative experience in filmmaking and videography.
  • Ability to understand the desired outcome of a project when meeting with clients and the ability to bring them to life.
  • Experience editing various video projects and inserting sound effects, music and transitions.
  • Proficient in creating concept boards and other visual representations of planned edits for video projects.
