Conservations and Program Development Director

WWF was one of the first International non-government organizations working in Vietnam. In 1985, WWF began working on a national conservation strategy and since then has worked closely with the Vietnamese Government on a diverse range of environment issues and implemented field activities across the country. We are seeking for a qualified candidate for the position of Conservations and Program Development Director (CPD)  who will oversee the delivery of all conservation outcomes and partnerships, and be responsible for devising and implementing a successful program of fundraising to an agreed annual target. The CPD will do this by working with colleagues across the CO to ensure that challenging fundraising targets are met, that our contractual obligations with donors are adhered to with strong stewardship of these strategic relations, and that new donors are brought on board.

The role coordinates all types of fundraising including statutory, GAA/Public Sectors, Trust and Foundations, Corporate, Private Sectors, WWF Network, and mass audience. It works directly alongside colleagues, themselves engaging with donors, to develop compelling proposals, and provide strategic support and direction for organizational and program fundraising. It also works throughout the organization to mobilize and align communications, media and advocacy activity to engage supporters.

The CPD will also responsible for developing and implementing a Conservation strategy of WWF-Vietnam, including but not limited to: managing the Conservation function through the Country Practice Focal Points; managing resource allocation and work plan coherence across the landscapes and those which are operating at a national level.

Base location:  Hanoi, Vietnam

Key requirements:

  • Master’s degree in business management, conservation, development studies, relevant fields or equivalent experience;
  • At least 10 years’ experience in development and/ or environment, including, ideally, at least 3 years in the WWF network;
  • Familiar with conservation and natural resource management issues in Vietnam and/ or Greater Mekong Region;
  • A demonstrable understanding of biodiversity issues related to forests, species, wildlife trade, freshwater ecosystems and climate change;
  • Excellent understanding of development partnerships: fund-raising, donor strategies, and international relations;
  • Experience in developing and writing project proposals to government aid agencies and foundations;
  • Successful fundraising experience with large-scale, multi country proposals (>3M USD);
  • Experience of working and negotiating with Government bodies, donors and partner at all levels
