Founded and represented by Cambodia, P.R. China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, MI’s strategies are aligned with the core tenets of the GMS Cooperation Program Strategic Framework 2030, ASEAN Economic Community, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

MI supports these frameworks through the implementation of projects across the areas of Agricultural Development and Commercialization, Trade and Investment Facilitation, and Sustainable Energy and Environment, while addressing issues of social inclusion and vulnerability, digital economy and innovation, and labor mobility to cement holistic and sustainable development impacts in the subregion and beyond.

Communications Officer (Visual and Graphics Artist), Communications and Knowledge Management (CKM) Unit

We are seeking a Communications Officer to support the Communication and Knowledge Management (CKM) Unit of the Greater Mekong Community Affairs (GMCA) Department. The position will be based at the MI Headquarters in Khon Kaen, Northeast Thailand. Khon Kaen, a growing city, is the commerce and political center of Northeastern Thailand and an important gateway to other GMS countries.

Main deliverables, responsibilities and tasks

Key deliverables

  • High quality and compelling visual and graphic communication materials, products, tools, reports and videos
  • Consistent branding of all MI materials, products, and services

Main responsibilities and tasks

  • Develop and design PowerPoint presentations, infographics, brochures, reports, and collaterals, including videos
  • Create multimedia digital content (Audio-Visual, GIFs, Static, Video) for social media platform
  • Provide design inputs in the development of project and/or program proposals, concept notes, Department events, as well as resource mobilization and promotional materials
  • Revise the content and visuals as per feedback
  • Co-manage the MI website and social media platforms, which include provision of write-ups and visual designs
  • Support the design conceptualization and implementation of institutional activities, meetings, and events
  • Support the implementation of the MI Communication Strategy and Plan
  • Deliver other related tasks as requested by the Executive Director and CKM Manager

Required qualifications, skills and experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or other graphics-related degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven work experience in design, layout, and production
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud software (InDesign, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator) and office software packages
  • Video pre- and post-production skills
  • Knowledge of pre-press electronic file preparation and digital formats.
  • Working knowledge of print production and web and social media design requirements and limitations.
  • Detailed-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Excellent command of English, with the ability to reframe complex technical concepts into accessible visual forms for the public
  • Exceptional creativity and innovation with responsible time and management skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work in a team and to coordinate with others
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to live and work in Khon Kaen, Thailand
  • Willingness to travel within the GMS, when required

Desirable

  • Previous experience working for an intergovernmental, international development or UN organizations is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of GMS and development issues
  • Language proficiency in at least one GMS language is an asset
