Associate Director of Prevention

FHI 360, also known as Family Health International, is a non-governmental organization that works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, other ministries, provincial health services, and local non-government organizations to promote the health and well-being of the Vietnamese population, particularly vulnerable and disenfranchised groups. In Vietnam, FHI 360 is currently building the capacity of local organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment; TB control; nutrition; maternal and child health; dengue control; behavioral and epidemiologic research methods training; clinical research in new vaccines and drugs; and laboratory strengthening.

We are currently seeking qualified, experienced, and highly motivated candidate for the position of Associate Director of Prevention, Hanoi based:

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership, assistance and oversees HIV prevention strategies, interventions staffing and partnerships. Lead development, implementation and monitoring of an enhanced outreach prevention approach. Contribute to the evidence base on HIV prevention programs in Vietnam. Test and share lessons learned from integrating HIV prevention innovations into programs and services.
  • Manage, supervise and support prevention technical staff to develop implement and complete HIV prevention deliverables in quality and timely fashion. Develops prevention capacity building plan for prevention staff and GVN stakeholders.
  • Ensures the quality and use of data across prevention programming and planning.
  • Works in collaboration with other FHI 360 teams and units.
  • Cultivates strong working relationships across FHI 360 programs and units, GVN institutions, PEPFAR and other key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and abilities:

  • Advanced degree in medicine, public health, or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of experience working in Vietnam on public health, and /or HIV programming and prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or government agency.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MOH and provincial health services and issues relevant to the eventual successful integration of current donor-supported programs into sustainable national and provincial responses.
  • Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of professionals working in a complex network of organizations and agencies in Vietnam including non-governmental, donor and national and local health and related institutions.
  • Ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication in both Vietnamese and English as well as computer literacy.
