Agriculture Information, Statistics, Applied Tools Specialist (National position)

SNV Netherlands Development Organisation seeks anAgriculture Information, Statistics, Applied Tools Specialist for the Southeast Asia regional Core Agriculture Support Project (CASP) Phase II. This project will support the Asian Development Bank and the governments of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) to create a more integrated, climate-friendly agricultural sector in the GMS. The outcome will be enhanced market access for environment-friendly agricultural products, particularly certified products using reduced agrochemicals. The five outputs are: (i) strengthened regional framework and capacity for agri-food quality management; (ii) established electronic trade of environmentally-friendly agri-food production of smallholders; (iii) increased adoption of gender-responsive and climate-friendly agriculture; (iv) facilitated knowledge management and dissemination; and (v) strengthened regional cooperation on agriculture in the GMS.

General Qualifications

  • At least a university degree or equivalent qualification in the related field
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in relevant fields in the GMS
  • Experience in working with international consultants, and government institutions
  • Past experience with the ADB is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of the GMS regional information service and AINS;
  • Support the GIS, Statistics and MIS roles in developing a wider basis for both agricultural data and decision support tools for agriculture and environment;
  • Ensure data collation and indicator development within the GMS online web portal and developing approaches to sharing and applying data for policy analysis, investment feasibility, benchmarking and for supporting decision support tools;
  • Ensure a comprehensive data system is built from existing data sources and data systems are developed to support the CASP technical programs and their future upscaling or institutionalization.

Contract: The position will be intermittent with total input of 19 man-months and based in Bangkok, Thailand. Position is contingent on award decision from the ADB.
