Position Mandate

The USAID/PepsiCo Global Development Alliance (GDA) “Investing in Women to Strengthen Supply Chains” is a global partnership that aims to make the business case for women’s economic empowerment (WEE) in agricultural supply chains. USAID and PepsiCo are working together to strengthen women’s agricultural skills and access to resources within PepsiCo’s supply chains to demonstrate the value of women’s contributions to core business and impact goals.

The GDA is seeking candidates to serve as the Agriculture Field Assistant for the GDA in Vietnam. This is a full-time position based in Dak Lak, Vietnam. S/he will support the GDA Vietnam team in implementing field-level activities in PepsiCo’s supply chain to build the capacity of women managers, laborers, and entrepreneurs to deploy regenerative agriculture practices to boost farm productivity and resilience. The selected candidate will work under the guidance of the GDA Agriculture & Innovation Coordinator in Dak Lak province to support field activities. The selected candidate will also be responsible for assisting the GDA Vietnam team with administrative and operational tasks to ensure effective delivery of field-level activities.


OUTCOMES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Agriculture-related tasks:

  • Support the partnership’s day-to-day activities in coordination with the Agriculture & Innovation Coordinator, Country Manager, and PepsiCo agronomy team. This will include logistics and implementation support tasks.
  • Assist in setting up and supporting the gender-smart demonstration farms in Dak Lak to build women farmers’ capacity to pilot sustainable farming practices, women’s empowerment skill building, and new farm management practices.
  • Support farmer-level data collection
  • Support the agriculture & innovation coordinator in delivering trainings to farmers on potato cultivation, on-the-job/business skills, and other relevant matters on farms
  • Generate and submit timely reports and relevant documentation of field activities.

Administrative-support tasks:

  • Support procurement of services/goods for the project, such as obtaining competitive quotes, evaluating bids, negotiating with vendors if needed, preparing procurement records and document while ensuring the project’s procurement policies and procedures are met.
  • Coordinate travel and logistics for team meetings, client meetings, trainings, and other project events as needed.
  • Communicate with service vendors as directed by the Agriculture & Innovation Coordinator or Country Manager
  • Maintain accurate and complete operational records and filing systems.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or a related field in agriculture
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills in English and Vietnamese
  • At least 6 months of internship or work experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience with agricultural activities, especially working with local communities, women’s groups, or initiatives that increase adoption of innovative agricultural activities.
  • Experience/knowledge of data collection.

TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS

The employee must be able to travel within Vietnam and up to 70% for work assignments.

The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position, sitting at a desk for prolonged periods, move or traverse inside the office and facilities; operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position computers and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, furniture, and computer printer. The employee must be able to make substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and fingers.  The employee must be able to lift and move up to 15lbs at times.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE

It is required that candidates for this role currently have work authorization in Vietnam.

SALARY RANGE

Gross salary per month: VND 10,000,000 – 15,000,000
