Agricultural Specialist

Summary:   The Agricultural Specialist will provide leadership in the design and implementation of technical programs under the above named project to increase women’s agricultural productivity and diversification including animal husbandry.  The Specialist will carry out Trainings of Trainers, with a particular emphasis on integrating gender awareness into activities, as well as trainings for women direct beneficiaries.

The Agricultural Specialist reports to the Team Leader

Specific Duties:
- Adapt and/or develop training materials to increase agricultural productivity and diversification as well as animal husbandry in target communities.
- Conduct Training of Trainers for provincial agricultural bodies and conduct training for women beneficiaries.
- Coordinate technical activities and provide direction, feedback and support to ensure sustainable results.
- As applicable, conduct and coordinate provision of monitoring visits to affiliated programs.
- Provide regular written/oral program progress updates, as requested.
- Represent Pact, as requested, at conferences, agencies, meetings and other fora.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  
- At least 5 years of experience working on agriculture and conducting training with a strong emphasis on gender and social development
- Excellent team building and interpersonal communications skills including listening, mediating, negotiating and collaborative problem solving
- Proven ability to establish and sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with local government and CBOs
- Strong and proven analytical, writing and oral presentation skills
- Ability and willingness to travel

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Master’s degree in agriculture or animal husbandry or a related field
