Advisor on Impact Orientation

“Brot für die Welt” (“Bread for the World”) is a German non-governmental organisation, founded in 1959. Since 1996, “Brot für die Welt” is working in Vietnam to support local partner organisations in the sectors of basic services, food security, rural development and HIV/Aids prevention and since 2007 in Laos in similar fields of activities.
The office of “Brot für die Welt” in Vietnam is looking for an experienced and qualified professional for the position as Advisor on Impact Orientation
Based in: “Brot für die Welt” Office Hanoi, with travelling to partners as required
Starting date: 1. July 2012
Contract period: 2 years
Duties:
- Assistance to “Brot für die Welt” partner organisations in questions and topics related to Impact Orientation through regular contact and communication and partner visits
- Support of partner organisations and colleagues in
o developing new project proposals including the Impact Orientation perspective – in compliance with the standards of “Brot für die Welt”
o assessing and improving the quality of submitted project proposals regarding impact orientation aspects and “Brot für die Welt” standard requirements
- Planning and organising Impact Orientation capacity building measures for partners (e.g. workshops)
- Completion of a baseline survey assessing the knowledge and capacity of partner organisations on Impact Orientation and implementation of a second survey after two years
- Communication with the “Brot für die Welt” headquarter and other stakeholders in Europe and Asia about the topic, cooperation with partners and experiences made
- Assistance in the recruitment of external consultants and subsequent cooperation with them
- Accountancy of the Impact Orientation project funds

Requirements:
- University degree in a development related field (e.g., social studies, economy, agriculture)
- 3-5 years of working experience in the development cooperation sector, preferably with NGOs and/or CBOs
- Working experience related to Impact Orientation, especially PM&E and relevant methods and tools
- Experience in accountancy of project funds
- Good understanding of the work of Vietnamese NGOs and mass organisations and experiences in cooperating with them
- Understanding of and experiences with poverty-related development and gender issues
- Travelling to remote project sites
- Good coaching and negotiation skills
- Fluency in Vietnamese and English (in writing and speaking)
- Excellent skills in communication, team work and in working independently
- Flexibility, adaptability and being proactive
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
