02 Teaching Training Consultants

 

The three year project "Improving quality basic education for ethnic minority children in three disadvantaged provinces in Vietnam” is implemented jointly by Save the Children and the Ministry of Education and Training in the provinces of Yen Bai, Quang Tri and Dien Bien. The project is funded by a grant from the Japanese Social Development Fund (JSDF Grant No. TF093411), a trust fund managed by the World Bank. Its overall objective is to assist the Government of Vietnam in supporting children ages 5–14 from ethnic minority communities to complete a quality primary education and continue their education in lower secondary school.

Vacancies: 02 Teaching Training Consultants:

One Consultant specialized in Active Learning and new model of teacher professional meeting
One Consultant specialized in Bilingual Education and second language acquisition

1. Role and responsibilities of the Consultant specialized in active learning and new model of teacher professional meeting
The main tasks of this consultant is to work closely with project partners and other consultant to i) identify gaps in teachers’ knowledge, teaching skills and techniques particularly in the areas of active learning and new model of teacher professional meeting and ii) design training and coaching plans to bridge these gaps so that teachers are confident to apply these techniques in their daily teaching.  The overall objective is to improve quality basic education especially primary education, and smooth transitions from preschool to primary and from primary to lower secondary school.  The consultant also has to ensure the harmonisation with other components contributing the project’s successful implementation

Key Competencies
- Master Degree in education, especially in primary education;
- Experience/knowledge on inclusive education is essential;
- Minimum 5 years experience in teacher training, especially for disadvantaged areas;
- Experience of active teaching/learning activities and providing active learning courses for primary teachers;
- Demonstrated experience in training design, training skills, implementation monitoring and evaluation;  
- Working knowledge of education policies and practice, especially in primary education;
- Experience to work with central government partners, especially with Ministry of Education and Training;
- Strong communication, facilitation and teamwork skills;
- Computer literate is a must and be able to self- service for routine office purposes;
- English skill is preferable;
- A proven commitment to children’s rights and equality of opportunity;
 
2. Role and responsibilities of the Consultant specialized in Bilingual Education and second language acquisition
The main tasks of this consultant is to work closely with project partners and other consultants to i) identify gaps in teachers’ knowledge, teaching skills and techniques particularly in the areas of BE and 2nd language acquisition and ii) design training and coaching plans to bridge these gaps so that teachers are confident to apply these techniques in their daily teaching.  The overall objective is to improve quality basic education especially primary education, and smooth transitions from preschool to primary and from primary to lower secondary school.  The consultant also has to ensure the harmonisation with other components contributing the project’s successful implementation.
 
Key Competencies

- Minimum 5 years experience in teacher training, especially for disadvantaged areas;
- Experience of teaching through the medium of second language to children;
- Demonstrated experience in training design, training skills, implementation monitoring and evaluation;  
- Working knowledge of education policies and practice, especially in primary education;
- Experience to work with central government partners, especially with Ministry of Education and Training;
- Strong communication, facilitation and teamwork skills;
- Computer literate is a must and be able to self- service for routine office purposes;
- English skill is preferable;
- A proven commitment to children’s rights and equality of opportunity;
