Background

We are seeking a qualified international consultantto assess and address any gaps in our mental health training, oversight, and support.

EpiC:

Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is a five-year, global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). EpiC Vietnam’s goal is to deliver efficient, affordable, results-based technical assistance and direct services in HIV and COVID-19.  

Scope of Work

The successful candidate will work closely with the Quality Treatment and other related teams to provide technical assistance in designing mental health activities and support itsimplementation in six EpiC-supported provinces. This support will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Identify gaps in accessing and providing mental health services from both client and provider perspectives
  • Develop training materials and tools for health staff and community health supporters in providing mental health services for key populations
  • Deliver trainings and provide hand-on coaching when and where possible to health staff at HIV treatment facilities and community health supporters at PrEP sites
  • Design appropriate interventions for health staff to cope with additional stresses associated with COVID-19 and general stresses associated with caring for patients with HIV based on need assessment at baseline

Qualifications:

  • Psychologist with at least 15 years’ experience in providing mental health counseling and support
  • Demonstration of training capacity, including material development, training delivery and follow-up hand-on coaching
  • Good understanding about Vietnamese healthcare system, and knowledgeable about the mental health services and referral system
  • Experience working with provincial health authorities as well as health staff at grass-root level
  • Ability to work with key populations

Proposals will be evaluated in accordance with the following criteria: Award will be based upon individual’s technical expertise, proven past related experiences and proposed rates.
