Within the agriculture team of GIZ’s green cluster (comprising all projects from priority area 2), projects with a focus on Vietnam as well as a number of regional initiatives on regional trade integration are bundled and “Strengthening the resilience of poor population groups to climate change in selected ASEAN states, taking special account of the impact of COVID-19 in Cambodia and Viet” (CRAS) is one of those.

CRAS project commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, works with Cambodia and Vietnam. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the resilience of poor population groups to climate change in selected agricultural value chains in the project regions (that is Cassava and Cashew value chains in Cambodia and Arabica Coffee value chain in Vietnam.

CRAS project in Vietnam works in Son La and Dien Bien – the largest Arabica coffee growing areas in the country. The project will provide technical assistance in the following areas:

  1. Capacity building for farmers on coffee production methods to adapt to climate change, taking into account of the impact of Covid-19
  2. Improve linkages and cooperation between stakeholders in the coffee value chain in the 2 project provinces
  3. Strengthen the capacity of public and private sector organizations on climate change resilience solutions, taking into account of the impact of Covid-19
  4. Exchange of national experiences on public-private partnership cooperation through regional forms/platforms

The CRAS project works with agencies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD); foremost the Department of Crop Production, and with national and international research bodies, provincial authorities and the private sector in the Arabica coffee value chain of the Northern provinces, Dien Bien and Son La.

The project is looking for a local qualified candidate to fill the following position:

Junior Project Officer for CRAS project
Duty station: Hanoi, Vietnam
Duration: ASAP until 28.02.2024, with possibility for extension

Main responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the activities; prepare reports and presentation materials;
  • Support to develop concepts and organize technical meetings, workshops and conferences;
  • Ensure knowledge management in the assigned activities and adequate project documentation (e.g. documentation and filing of documents in line with GIZ’s filing rules and the project’s document structure);
  • Arrange logistics for international and local events, organization of workshops and expert missions; taking meeting minutes; providing translation and interpretation.
  • Assist other activities when required.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an area that is relevant to achieve the program objectives (e.g. Business administration, Economics, Agriculture and Trade);
  • At least 2 years working experience in a similar position or related fields
  • Good command of English
  • Good command of MS Office and knowledge of modern telecommunication systems
  • Ability to travel, work in a team and sometimes under high pressure/ tight deadline to provide with instant inputs/ assistance to another team members
  • Willingness to take initiative, self-development and taking measures to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.
