Join VVAF Program to help Student with Disabilities to get the Internship at your enterprises

Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (VVAF) is a non-governmental organization of America. The representative office of VVAF was established in Hanoi in 1994. Since that time, VVAF have been active in 20 provinces of Vietnam with a variety of assistance programs, including programs to support people with disabilities, mine action programs to address the consequences of wars, mental health and education programs. One of our programs is the Dioxin Resolution Initiative in Vietnam (DRIVE phase III).

Part of DRIVE III is the Internship Component for Students with disabilities in the final years of their studies and newly graduated disabled students from a wide range of Universities, Colleges and Vocational Training Schools. VVAF will select the qualified students and they will be assigned to work in a job that fits their career aspirations, skill levels and match with employers’ business requirements. Currently we are looking for 10 to 15 excellent Vietnamese and foreign businesses based in Hanoi to sign on as partners of this internship component. Your organization ís one of the organizations that we prefer to work with. So we would like to invite you to join this special project.

Our vision: People with disabilities have many capabilities if they meet the opportunity to show their will, eagerness to learn and improve their professional skills and (potential) abilities.

Internship station: Hanoi; Internship period: 3-6 months;

Number of interns: 10-15 interns;

Starting time: June 2012;

Monthly allowance for interns: to be paid by VVAF

VVAF will provide required trainings for interns before they start the internship at businesses. Also, VVAF will provide required trainings/workshop for the businesses in terms of disability issues
including Convention on Rights of People with Disability and Disability Laws etc and “business case” for hiring and creating a welcoming environment for people with disability.

Expectations toward businesses:

- Each participating business commit to one and more interns to do the internship at their offices.

- The businesses are expected to create accessible working environment for PWDs.
