Communications and Media Coordinator
Position title: Communications and Media Coordinator (CMC)
Workplace: Habitat for Humanity Vietnam (HFHV) at the Hanoi Office
Reports to: Resource Development and Communications Manager (RDCM)
Supervises: Relevant local and international volunteers and/or interns
Relates to: Coordinates with Country Director, Programme Managers and Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) Asia Pacific regional office (communications department) regularly
Start date: On or before August 1, 2011
Overall Responsibilities
The Communications and Media Coordinator (CMC) supports the communications, resource development and grant management units of HFHV. The CMC will support existing specific activities and work towards developing further activities that also involve partners, donors, staff and volunteers, etc. The CMC will assist the RDCM in building the communications and media capacity of HFHV. These activities include, but are not limited to, organizational and external communication channels, media content production, public relations, marketing, advertising and community outreach.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Coordination of brand consistency
- Coordination of branded Habitat for Humanity Vietnam merchandise
- Online content production and administration for website
- Content production and distribution for external and internal newsletters
- Content production of direct marketing materials such as brochures and fact sheets
- Coordination and content production of stories, photographs and video
- Coordination and content production of press kits and press releases
- Content production and administration for social media networks
- Coordination and maintenance of media contacts
- Monitoring donor and media outlets and websites to maintain clippings file
- Research and presentation to existing and potential partners as assigned
- Networking and event planning as assigned
Required Experience and Specifications
Essential
- Passion for working with and on behalf of people affected by poverty
- Alignment with the values, vision and mission of HFHI in general and HFHV in particular
- University degree in communications (e.g. journalism, broadcast media, public relations) strongly preferred; equivalencies may be considered
- Minimum three years’ work experience in media production, communications and/or public relations
- Fluency in spoken and written English (writing samples will be requested)
- Vietnamese national
- Familiar with photo and video production, including still and video camera operation and editing software (photo and video samples will be requested)
- Proficient desktop publishing skills, including proven experience working with Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop and AfterEffects (design samples will be requested)
- Knowledgeable of website design and development
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Capability to multi-task and work with cross-cultural teams
Desirable
- Experience with grant /proposal writing
- Experience with donor relations
- Experience facilitating group training workshops
Performance Appraisals
Annual or project-specific job plans will be developed with supervisor and management team. This work plan will objectively guide and serve as the assessment tool for regular (every 3-6 months) performance reviews, as well as formal annual or end of project performance appraisals.
