Founded and represented by Cambodia, P. R. China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam, MI aligns its strategies with the core tenets of the GMS Cooperation Program Strategic Framework 2030, the ASEAN Economic Community, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

MI supports these frameworks through the implementation of projects across the areas of Agricultural Development and Commercialization (ADC), Trade and Investment Facilitation (TIF), and Sustainable Energy and Environment (SEE), while addressing issues of social inclusion and vulnerability, digital economy and innovation, and labor mobility. This comprehensive approach aims to achieve holistic and sustainable developmental impacts in the subregion and beyond.

Communications and Knowledge Management Officer, Greater Mekong Community Affairs (GMCA) Department - Communications and Knowledge Management (CKM) Unit

The Communications and Knowledge Management Officer will play a crucial role in enhancing the organization's visibility, knowledge dissemination, and communication efforts. Reporting to the Head of the CKM Unit, he/she will be responsible for supporting the implementation of MI’s communication plan and strategies, co-producing high-quality knowledge products, and assisting in various institutional activities and events.

Overall, these tasks must be planned and carried out in close collaboration with MI senior management, members of the GMCA Department, as well as other program and support departments.

Main Deliverables, Responsibilities, and Tasks

Key Deliverables

  1. High-quality and accurate knowledge products and communication tools that are in line with MI’s branding
  2. Co-management of MI’s website, social media channels, and databases
  3. Provision of support to MI’s institutional activities, meetings, and events

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

  1. Knowledge Product Development: Collaborate with the CKM Unit and other Departments to develop knowledge products, including press releases, success stories, infographics, photos, videos, and other collaterals. Ensure that these materials are aligned with MI's communication plan and branding.
  2. Website and Social Media Management: Co-manage MI’s website and social media accounts and help ensure sustained digital presence.
  3. Organizational Document Support: Assist in the preparation and completion of organizational documents and publications such as the Annual Report, E-Briefing, Terms of Reference, and other materials as advised by the MI Executive Director and CKM Unit head.
  4. Event Management: Provide support in organizing, facilitating, and documenting activities, meetings, and events, utilizing both online and onsite platforms. Ensure seamless execution and capture valuable insights and outcomes.
  5. Media Relations: Provide support in establishing and sustaining relations with the media. 
  6. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with MI senior management, members of the GMCA Department, and other program and support departments to ensure alignment and integration of communication and knowledge management efforts. Work with external service providers and consultants as may be necessary for the completion of projects and deliverables. 

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Essential

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field
  2. Excellent English writing, speaking, and comprehension skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in layman's terms
  3. Proven experience in content development, including producing press releases, success stories, and other multimedia content (photos and videos)
  4. Strong knowledge and proven experience in graphic design
  5. Excellent public speaking, facilitation, and presentation skills
  6. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, graphic design, and video-editing applications.
  8. Willingness to reside and work in Khon Kaen, Thailand
  9. Willingness to travel within the GMS when required

Desirable

  1. At least three years of work experience in communications, ideally in an international setting
  2. Video pre- and post-production skills are highly valued
  3. Strong knowledge of GMS and development issues
  4. Proficiency in at least one GMS language
