The Institute for Social and Environmental Transition-International (ISET) Vietnam office was established in 2010 and engages in a wide range of innovative urban climate resilience and disaster risk reduction work throughout Vietnam. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as Climate resilience technical staff. This position will be under a full-time 1-year contract with potential for extension, preferably based in Hanoi.

Position summary:

The Climate resilience technical staff will work under the direct supervision of ISET Vietnam Technical Lead and in close contact with all other team members, is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks from project implementation, workshop facilitation to providing technical inputs and drafting of technical documents in climate and disaster resilience projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist with general project implementation, includingproject coordination, monitoring and evaluation.
• Provide technical support to and work closely with local partners in theimplementation of project activities.
• Assist the Technical Lead to provide appropriate guidance, coaching and advice on the implementation of climate resilience/adaptation and disaster risk reduction activities.
• Support the design, preparation, and organization of national, regional, and local workshops, roundtables on urban climate resilience, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
• Provide inputs to draft technical documents and reports.
• Support knowledge management, documentation of lessons, experience and good practices and reporting on results and lessons learned.
• Support background research within the project context.
• Perform other duties and tasks at the request of the organization.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in one of the following fields: urban planning and development, urban resilience, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, water resources management. Candidates with degree on urban planning related fields must have experience in disaster risk reduction/resilience related fields or vice versa.
• At least 6 years of hands-on experience in international funded projects related to sustainable urban development, urban resilience, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and water resources management.
• Experience in climate vulnerability, resilience and risk assessment, adaptation/resilience planning, project cycling, local networking, monitoring, and evaluation skills, including designing pathways to sustainable impact at scale.
• Experience in facilitating trainings, workshops, report writing and presentations, and in working with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience in proposal writing and project planning and coordination.
• Willingness to work on multi-tasks from technical to operational, networking and communication.
• Experience and skills in GIS tools is a plus.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) and other relevant software tools for project management is required.
• A good team player who is willing to take on responsibility and work independently.
• Fluency in written and spoken in English and Vietnamese.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project locations.
