There are four Working Group meetings in April and May: the Capacity Development Working Group will meet on April 20 (10:00) for a panel discussion on leadership in Vietnam at the NGO Resource Centre; the Climate Change Working Group will meet on May 5 (14:00) at NGO Resource Centre; the Disaster Management Working Group will meet on May 20 (14:00) at NGO Resource Centre; and the HIV-AIDS Technical Working Group will meet on May 25 (13:30) at
Hanoi School of Public Health, 138 Giang Vo, Ha Noi

NEWSLETTER 1 - 15 April 2011

Dear Members and Friends:
Welcome to the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for 1 - 15 April, 2011.

We would like to advise you that the Country Director for Plan Vietnam, Mr. Mark Pierce, assumed the Asia Regional Director position for Plan International as of the 1st of April 2011. We wish Mark all the best in his new role. Please note that Mr. Sven Coopens will serve as the Acting Country Director for Plan Vietnam in the interim until a new Country Director is appointed.

We would also like to advise you that the NGO Resource Centre office will be closed next Monday and Tuesday, April 11 and 12, 2011, for the public holidays marking the National Anniversary of the Hung Kings.

Welcome to the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre Newsletter for 15 - 30 March, 2011.

We are pleased to inform you of news from the United Nations. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon announced on March 11, 2011, the appointment of John Hendra, UN Resident Co-ordinator, to the position of Assistant Secretary-General for Policy and Programme at the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in New York. In this position within UN Women, Mr. Hendra will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Bureau, supporting policy analysis, research and training, programme management and oversight. He will also serve as one of the two Deputies to the Executive Director of UN Women, Michelle Bachelet.

On behalf of members, we have the pleasure to welcome the new Country Coordinator for Education for Development in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Hanna Smokcum. We wish her all the best in the position. We also thank her predecessor, Ms. Kirsten Theuns, for her support for the NGO Resource Centre during her three years as Country Coordinator at EFD, and wish her good luck in her work with EFD International. We extend our best wishes to you all for Christmas and the new year, and look forward to working with you again in 2011. Enjoy the holidays, for those taking a holiday break, and we hope you return to work fully refreshed.

We would like to inform you that the Resource Centre office will be closed on Christmas Eve on Friday, 24 December, and New Yar's Eve on Friday 31st December, 2010.
