Description of task
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Social Policy and Governance programme, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support UNICEF advocacy efforts on child rights including through contribution to the CRC (Convention on the Rights of the child) State Party Reporting process and liaison with child rights CSOs. (Civil Society Organizations)
  • Contribute to UNICEF advocacy for child-focused targets and indicators in SEDP (Social Economic Development Plan) to enable Government to allocate budget and monitor equitable development outcomes.
  • Support the review of and consultation with DPOs ( Development Partner Organizations) on the draft Master Plan to support Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030 and prepare a summary of recommendations for further improvement of the Master Plan, especially aspects related to children.
  • Support to facilitate the end evaluation of Right to Education and Protection Project (REAP) project funded by the Government of Australia: arranging field work and consultation with relevant stakeholders; documenting best practices of the project, writing human interest stories, providing inputs and validation to finalise the evaluation report.
  • Support the review of the content of the programme products and T4D (Technology for Development) initiatives from an inclusive perspective. This includes for example, the interactive and inclusive digital application for multiple communication devices to equip children, families, communities, caregivers and teachers with knowledge on climate change adaptation, air pollution and disaster risk management.
  • Draft programme documents including donor reports, human interest stories, policy briefs and two-pagers on key child rights issues and finalise based on extensive consultation with programme sections.
  • Support the Secretariat function of the internal Children with Disabilities Working Group and act as a liaison with the DPO networks.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

Social sciences, laws or human rights would be an advantageial Sciences, International Relations, Community Development, Human Rights or Gender Equality.
