As a federal enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. On behalf of the German Government, GIZ currently provides advisory services to the Government of Viet Nam in three priority areas: Vocational training, Environmental policy and sustainable use of natural resources, and Energy. The global project “Promotion of multi-stakeholder projects for sustainable textile supply chains” aims to foster a co-operation between private, state and civil society actors to improve the social, environmental and economic working and living conditions along the textile supply chain in partner countries. In Vietnam the project aims particularly at enhancing the climate-friendliness of the Textile Industry.

GIZ Vietnam is looking for a qualified local professional for the position of:

Senior Project Officer
“Climate-friendly Textile Industry”
Duty Station: Hanoi, Vietnam
Duration of Assignment: ASAP until September 2019
Kind of Assignment: 50% (part time)

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of trainings for energy managers of Textile and garment companies in Viet Nam;
  • Prepare Terms of Reference and steer international and national consultants who will partially contribute to the objectives of the project in Viet Nam.
  • Promote GIZ ?s Textile related activities and its objectives in relevant media, events and platforms (e.g. publications, digital platforms, round tables, conferences, other) and knowledge dissemination;
  • Develop concepts and organise technical meetings, workshops and a national multi-stakeholder Textile conference;
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project’s activities, prepare reports and presentation material.

Requirements

Education:

  • Master’s Degree ideally in a subject related to at least one of the following fields: energy efficiency (EE), environment, Textile.

Professional Competences:

  • At least 10 years of proven working experience in Textile and Garment sector;
  • At least 7 years of professional working experience in a comparable position;
  • Profound knowledge of the Vietnamese Textile and garment sector, EE policy framework with regard to the textile sector, key private, academic and non-governmental institutions of the Vietnamese textile sector, relevant implementation structures, responsibilities and planning processes;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with analytical capacities and ability to synthesise relevant findings;
  • Excellent command of MS Office and good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems.

Personal Competences:

  • Excellent self-management and coordination skills;
  • Creativity, proactivity and proper initiative towards the results of the programme as the assignment requires the willingness and preparedness to assume a high level of responsibility with limited supervision by GIZ;
  • Excellent ability to share knowledge and experience, a good team player;
  • Demonstrated ability to work and produce - sometimes under high pressure - high quality outputs with limited supervision and management;
