KOICA, UNDP Help 2 Vietnamese Provinces Confirm 75K Disabled due to War

The “Korea-Vietnam Mine Action” project, which was funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and co-run by the Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Vietnam, has helped two central provinces of Quang Binh and Binh Dinh identify 75,000 people with disability due to bombs and mine left over by war as of September 2019, state media reported. The results were extracted from the software, as part of the project, on information management of people with disability. Of the amount, around 9,100 peoples are victims of bombs and mines, accounting for 12% of the total and most of whom are between 60 and 79. Women make up 46% and 7% for children under 15 years old. The software has been launched across 318 communes in the two provinces. (Nhan Dan, QDND, Bao Chinh Phu, VTV, VTV, Kinh Te Do Thi)
