KOICA Funds $4.3M Mine Action Project in Vietnam Quang Ngai

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will fund Vietnam’s central province of Quang Ngai a $4.3 million mine action project via the United Nations Development Program, local media reported.

The missions of KOICA and the Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC) took a survey trip to the Vietnamese province for the Korea-Vietnam Peace Village Project implementation on May 17.

The project aims to support the socio-economic development of locals living in the project area and around places cleared of bombs and mines as well as improve the local community’s adaptation capability, especially victims of bombs and mines, natural disasters, and other risks.

The five-year project, including four components, will cover 20 communes of six districts in Quang Ngai province. (Thoi Dai, www.quangngai.gov.vn)
