Belgian Gov’t Funds Water-by-Wind Project in Vietnam Ninh Thuan

The Belgian government will provide official development assistance (ODA) for the Water-by-Wind project in Vietnam’s central province of Ninh Thuan, which aims to help the locality deal with climate change impacts, state media reported. Agreements on the implementation of the project were inked in Hanoi on September 10 among the MARD’s National Institute of Agricultural Planning and Projection (NIAPP), the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Thuan province, and Belgium’s SUL Company. The project will be carried out in An Hai commune, Ninh Phuoc district, which is home to 1,000 hectares of agricultural land, with half of which severely lacking water. It uses renewable energy for water purification, said Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Paul Janssen. Ambassador Paul Janssen noted that both Vietnam and Belgium have many joint projects to support Ninh Thuan in terms of water resources. He hoped that there will be more projects in other localities of Vietnam. (Nong Nghiep Viet Nam, Nong Nghiep)
