Social Work Advisor

Hagar International is a Swiss-based Christian organization that is committed to individualized and long-term assistance to its beneficiaries, advocating the strategic use of the social enterprise model as a tool for social rehabilitation and economic empowerment. Hagar works with women and children from devastating backgrounds of violence, abuse and trafficking and supports them in their recovery, rehabilitation, job readiness and ultimately community reintegration.

Hagar Vietnam is currently focusing on two main objectives. A partnership has been developed with the Center for Women and Development under the Women’s Union. Hagar will collaborate with this centre to increase the center’s capacity to deliver high quality recovery services within its residential care facilities for survivors of domestic violence and trafficking. The second objective is to create and implement the Empowerment for Life (EWL) program, which will provide an avenue towards economic empowerment for women. Hagar will partner with existing vocational training programs to develop a program tailored to the needs of these women which will include hard vocational skills along with soft skills, self-development and life skills.

They are currently seeking a qualified candidate to join our team in Hanoi in the role of SOCIAL WORK ADVISOR

Social Work Advisor (SWA), Hagar Vietnam: Under the supervision of the Country Representative, the SWA will be responsible for:
Capacity building of social work and shelter personnel:
Conduct trainings for social work, case work, and other shelter personnel regarding fundamentals of social work profession, including counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and psychosocial assessment

Provide or facilitate trainings related to the dynamics of domestic violence, sex trafficking, gender based violence, community reintegration, and trauma recovery

Support shelter management team with on-site supervision, feedback and technical support for CWD social workers within the CWD trafficking and domestic violence shelters

Facilitate and/or directly provide community-wide trainings for NGO and government organizations addressing gender based violence and human trafficking
Support organizations in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the trafficking and domestic violence shelters and other related programs in Hanoi

Educational Background/Experience Level Desired: Master of Social Work or related field. Minimum 5 years clinical/work experience

Skills Desired:
-Experience in training and case worker supervision.
-Experience working with people from backgrounds of trauma and violence, including sex trafficking.
-Advanced fluency in spoken and written English
-Advanced Vietnamese language skills desirable
 -Working experience in Vietnam
-Candidate must demonstrate flexibility and cultural sensitivity
