The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has pledged to fund $5.5 million for a project on sexual and reproductive health and family planning costing $6.4 million in Vietnam in the 2017-2021 period. Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Viet Tien and UNFPA Representative in Vietnam Astrid Bant on November 15 signed an agreement to launch the project. The project aims to improve Vietnamese people’s living standards through increasing universal access to sexual and reproductive health and family planning services, while helping them to make their own choices with regards to their sexual and reproductive health. It also targets to fight current urgent issues including the imbalance in sex ratios at birth and gender-based violence in all groups, especially disadvantaged and vulnerable people, as well as promoting gender equality in Vietnam.
