To meet current increasing work demands of Payment for Environmental Services (PES) and climate change related projects in Viet nam in general and in Bac Kan province in particular, ICRAF Vietnam has established an internship program. The program offers a young enthusiastic newly graduated or student in the last year of his/her English education an opportunity to gain work experience in the field of poverty reduction, environmental
protection and climate change. The interns main role will be to interpret English–Vietnamese interviews in the field. The intern will also provide administrative assistance to ICRAF for national and international meetings and workshops. ICRAF offers the intern an allowance in recognition of their time.
The initial assignment, will occur over two weeks at the end of March and beginning of April, interpreting field interviews in Na Ri and Pac Nam districts, Bac Kan province. The intern will provide further support for an international workshop on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) scheduled for 4–6 May in Hanoi.
The intern will:
- be a native Vietnamese speaker and a recent graduate or final-year English student at the Foreign Trade University or University of Foreign Language Study;
- possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both English and Vietnamese, and enjoy working in a team;
- be fluent in English; and,
- have sound computer literacy including sound knowledge of the use of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, email and the internet.
