Church World Service (CWS) is an international non-profit organization that works for fighting hunger and poverty, promoting peace and justice. CWS in Vietnam supports the education sector through helping teachers to improve their knowledge and skills for teaching and classroom management, promoting child-centered teaching methods, support making teaching-learning aids, promoting child-friendly libraries and reading, supporting after-school activities. CWS helps to improve school infrastructure, including water access, toilets and sanitary facilities. We also assist improvements in the health sector in our target areas through helping healthcare workers to enhance their professional knowledge and skills with updated information. We support correct First Aid practice, and facilitate health check-ups in remote villages. We also work to support community access to water, promote hygienic behaviors through awareness raising, sanitary latrine making and usage, household waste management.
We are now seeking for qualified international candidates for the following position:
VOLUNTEER FOR COMMUNICATION WORK
Position Type: Non-paid, part-time, 3-month renewable assignment. Allowance (± $100 per month) per budget availability.
Job Location: Hanoi Office, Vietnam
Position Description
The volunteer is expected to support and help national staff at CWS Hanoi office improve their English language knowledge and skills with the following specific activities:
- Hold discussions and provide training sessions/ instructions about how to write good stories of change;
- Help staff with on-the-job learning through participatory / interactive editing stories, reports and proposals in English;
- Help staff with on-the-job learning through participatory / interactive selecting and editing of photos and making photo slideshow (Power Point presentations) for communication purposes;
- Hold thematic talks in English and/or provide English practice / learning sessions to support staff to improve their English skills and presentation (in English) skills;
Required competencies/ experiences/ qualifications
- Verified English-as-a-second-language teaching skills;
- Skills and experience in writing stories and in editing reports and proposals;
- Ability and enthusiasm to facilitate learning sessions/ instructions on writing project stories;
- Skills and experience in photo slideshow (e.g., Power Point presentation) making and editing – and willingness to help others learn;
- Ability to communicate clearly and to work in a team.
