Project Background:
Nathan Associates Inc. is implementing a USAID project in Vietnam to support the adoption and implementation of a risk management approach to customs, which will facilitate the implementation of the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement of which both Vietnam and the United States (U.S.) are members. Nathan Associates Inc. will work with The General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) to ensure simplification, harmonization, professionalization, and adoption and implementation of risk management customs approaches at the national and provincial levels to expedite cross-border trade and to enable Vietnam to implement WTO TFA commitments. The Project team will work with the GDVC, private sector and other Government of Vietnam (GVN) agencies to simplify policies and across GVN units, foster stronger linkages between national and provincial levels, and improve coordination and implementation at the provincial level.
Overview:
As Translator/Interpreter, the candidate will report to the Finance & Operations Director (F&O Director) and will be responsible providing translation and interpretation service to the activities organized by the field office and report to the F&O Director, Chief of Party.
Responsibilities and Tasks
The Translator/Interpreter will be responsible for the following:
- Interpret during meetings, working sessions, and field visits as required;
- Translate documents from English language to Vietnamese and vice versa (e-mails, letters, technical documents, reports, minutes of meeting, etc.)
- Support in administrative duties/office management as well as other duties as required by the Finance & Operations Director or Chief of Party;
Qualifications:
The Translator/Interpreter should have the following qualifications:
- Graduated from university, major in English or other related fields
- English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing;
- At least 4 years of working experience in equivalent position
- Good at Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet, Email
- Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Able to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Discretion, trustworthiness, team working, independent, deadline-oriented and proactive.
Reporting:
The Translator/Interpreter will report to the F&O Director with a copy to the Chief of Party.
