FHI 360, also known as Family Health International, is a non-governmental organization that works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, other ministries, provincial health services, and local non-government organizations to promote the health and well-being of the Vietnamese population, particularly vulnerable and disenfranchised groups. In Vietnam, FHI 360 is currently building the capacity of local organizations in HIV prevention, care, and treatment; TB control; nutrition; maternal and child health; dengue control; behavioral and epidemiologic research methods training; clinical research in new vaccines and drugs; and laboratory strengthening.
We are currently seeking a qualified, experienced, and highly motivated candidate for the position of Software Application Development and Innovations Consultant, based in Hanoi:
Duration: From May 1, 2014 – September 30, 2014, with possibility of extension
Main duties and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be a member of the Strategic Communications (SC) unit in FHI 360’s Hanoi office.
He/she will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Work with SC Team to review current FHI 360 projects and develop a plan to integrate Information Communication Technologies and Gamification approaches to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of FHI 360 projects and interventions
- Develop systems and applications that use mobile phone and computer software to improve public health programming in Vietnam (e.g. increased access to information and services; better reporting and monitoring; more engagement of clients)
- Work with the SC team to develop gamification solutions in the area of HIV prevention, care and treatment
This position will report to Associate Director of SC unit.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and abilities:
- BA/BS in Computer Science plus at least 3 years’ experience developing web/mobile applications
- Strong knowledge and experience in web/mobile application development. Including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AJAX, and PHP, etc.
- Experience developing web applications and mobile web apps using NodeJS, ExpressJS, MongoDB, and one of the client side JavaScript framworks such as AgnularJS, Backbone, or Ember
- Good knowledge of (or interest in) the current use of Information Communication Technologies in the field of development
- Knowledge of coding best practices and design patterns
- Experience managing source code using revision control systems
